Adumaya Ryokan

Ryokan Adumaya is located in Yunomine in Hongu-cho, Wakayama. It is the old established “Ryokan” Japanese Inn run for generations since the Edo era. Benefits of hot springs, sauna type baths with the scent of Japanese cypress trees and a variety of delicious food with “onsen” flavors. Please enjoy the lovely and blissful moment to your heart’s content.

The founder, originally shrine priest, founded Azumaya here some time around the middle or end of the Edo era. The buildings look like a 2-story wooden structure at first glance. However, to the rear there is an additional area of another 2-story integrally integrated connected building, so essentially it can be thought of as a 4-story building.

The French artist and man of letters, André Maurois and his wife praised “Adumaya Inn” as the “epitome of a Japanese inn”. Adumaya Ryokan has earned the love and respect of another writer, Kyoshi Takahama, and many other authors and artists.
